the propertyIl Nido is a beautifully restored village house which is a fulfillment of its Australian owners 20 year long dream. The house is full of sunlight and enjoys spectacular views. Restored in 2010, it is a very comfortable home full of character and charm with beamed ceilings and terracotta floors yet it is modern and comfortable and very well appointed. It is an excellent base for a couple wishing to explore this unspoilt area and return home in the evenings to a lovely village.
On the ground floor and leading directly off the picturesque garden there is an open plan lounge / dining / kitchen area as well as a separate bathroom complete with shower, hand basin and washing machine. In the living area there is an excellent quality queen size sofa bed and two comfortable armchairs, as well as a satellite LCD television with DVD player. The round dining table extends to seat 6 people comfortably. The kitchen with travertine top has a dishwasher, oven and gas cooktop. All of this centres round a lovely fireplace for the cooler months. From this open plan living area there are two sets of French doors which lead out onto a magnificent private garden enjoying stunning views across the valley to San Gimignano and Volterra. The garden has a beautiful paved area with iron outdoor furniture and of course an essential "Australian" gas barbeque. This garden is actually perched on the ancient stone walls of the village and is a perfect spot for alfresco dining with a glass of wine!
Upstairs is the pretty main bedroom which is very romantic with its queen size iron bed and beautiful views across the valley. It has it own private ensuite bathroom with shower and hand basin. On this level there is also a studio equipped with a desk, free wi-fi internet access, another comfortable lounge and separate television and Dvd player. Our house also gets cleaned by a professional end of lease cleaning company in Sydney. We always want to make sure that all our clients feel like they have moved in a new property for their city escape.
The house is really a little gem and has been so well restored and beautifully decorated by its owner that it just radiates a sense of space and privacy. The owner has used light and colour beautifully and the home just feels very warm and bright. The added bonus here is that you can literally stroll up the street for an excellent meal and stroll back down again with no need to touch the car.
The village of Radicondoli itself is very picturesque and unspoilt. It is set up high at approximately 500 metres above sea level. In the village there are 3 restaurants, 2 small food stores, a pharmacy, bank and a small supermarket.
The largest nearby town is Colle val D'Elsa which is a 20 minute drive away. From there you can easily access the Florence / Siena motorway. San Gimigiano, Volterra and Siena are approx a 40 minute drive away.
